DON (SCOTT) ROBERTSON It is with great sorrow we announce the sudden passing at home of Don Robertson. Don will be sadly missed by his best friend and soul mate Lillian Mitchell; Brother Robert (Dorothy) Sister Margaret; Lillians family, numerous nieces and nephews. Don was born August 18, 1926 in Glasgow, Scotland and shortly thereafter moved with the family to Canada settling in the Weston area. In his younger years Don was an accomplished athlete excelling in track and field and soccer at Cecil Rhodes School. Don began his work career at the Weston Shops where he was employed as an Apprentice Machinist until joining the Navy to serve in the Second World War. Returning from service he returned to the Weston Shops until joining the PPCLI in the Korean War. On his return from Korea, Don joined the Winnipeg School Division #1 until his retirement. Don was warm and generous with a sharp wit and keen sense of humour and a great memory, as he never forgot any of the families birthdays or important events. His nieces and nephews will never forget "Uncle Scotts Annual" where Don would take everyone for a day at Winnipeg Beach for all the rides and goodies they could handle. In latter years the "annual" became an all day BBQ with a seemingly endless supply of goodies and food and games. Don was proud in serving his country and his Veteran status and was a member of the Army, Navy and Air Force Fort Garry Unit. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Dons memory to the Poppy Fund of the Royal Canadian Legion. A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, February 20, 2001 at 10:00 a.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. Interment to follow in Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens. Arrangements in care of: CHAPEL LAWN FUNERAL HOME CEMETERY AND CREMATORIUM 885-9715
